JOHNSON & JOHNSON VISION CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY
OF THE ACUVUE® AUTHORIZED PARTNER PROGRAM

TORONTO, ON (October 23, 2017) – It has been one year since the launch of the ACUVUE® Authorized Partner Program and a successful year at that. The program was introduced to support and recognize ACUVUE® customers that exhibit good business practices. To date, over 2,000 accounts all over Canada have signed up with many locations proudly displaying POP material and using social media to communicate their status.

The ACUVUE® Authorized Partner Program was introduced to help Johnson & Johnson Vision (JJV) customers in differentiating themselves from unauthorized sources and to aid them in communicating their authorized status as well as the risks to patients.

Some unauthorized sources are not only creating an environment where it’s difficult for other customers to remain competitive, but may also potentially be putting a patient’s eye health at risk. When a patient purchases a product from an unauthorized source, there are potential risks that the patient may not be aware of, such as a product being: damaged, counterfeit, stolen, mishandled, or expired.

“The program provides peace of mind to patients and consumers that the place where they’ve purchased their contact lenses has been vetted.” said Ted Lachmansingh, Business Director, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care division of Johnson & Johnson Inc. “It enables the ECP to have a conversation about their authorized status, build trust and help reinforce their value proposition to the patient. We believe so much in this program, the value that it provides and the trust it builds between our customers and their patients that we have made a change to only include authorized partners in our ECP locator tool on acuvue.ca.”

Dr. Umscheid, a Calgary area Optometrist with four practices, has found the program to be very successful in highlighting his value proposition. “We take our patients’ eye health and vision seriously and the ACUVUE® Authorized Partner Program helps us highlight this fact. We have the Authorized Partner logo and signage throughout our offices which helps us showcase that we work directly with the ACUVUE® team, sourcing authentic products and ensuring that we have their latest technology and are up to date with any changes or advancements. With so many options available to our customers I think this is one impactful way we can show the value of making a purchase through our office rather than going elsewhere!”

“We’re very pleased with the overall interest and support of our Program to date,” said Greg Munroe, Senior Manager, National & Key Accounts, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care division of Johnson & Johnson Inc. “Since the launch, we have over 2,000 “partners” now signed up which includes Eye Care Professionals, retailers, both brick and mortar and some internet. (a complete list can be found @ acuvue.ca/aap). To be eligible, sound business practices in contact lens management must be followed. Our goal in 2018 is to expand the reach and awareness with social media campaigns and our presence at Canadian ECP events.”
